The Florida Parishes Homestead building is new in 1960. This site is the former location of the Dan Fazekas home (he was a local tailor). According to the Hammond Vindicator of April 28, the land and building cost the homestead approximately $40,000. The ground breaking occurred earlier this year. The single-story building was built by the Giacone Brothers and completed in late April. The formal dedication of the building has been delayed due to the illness of W. O. Herring, president. Information from 1960 Hammond ConSurvey, and the Hammond Vindicator from January and April 1960. |
