Guess & Kent, "A Good Drug Store Since 1920," was founded by Mr Nat Kent and Mr John Guess, Sr in 1920. Kent died in 1922 and Guess ran the business until his son John, Jr earned his pharmacy degree. The two men have shared duties at the store since then. Guess & Kent is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The store phone number is 38.
The building dates from 1920 and is constructed of some used bricks from a cotton warehouse in Wesson, MS, with new bricks on the sides and back wall.
Guess & Kent has an active "fountain," with nectar sodas a particular specialty. The store also carries Russel Stover and Whitman fine chocolates.
Dr Marshall Scarle (phone number 879) and Dr J W Allen (phone number 81) have their medical offices above the drug store.
