111 N Oak - 1960

Southeastern Beauty School

Southeastern Beauty School opens in this location in 1960. The "beauty school," as it is known, trains new hairdressers and prepares them for barber licensing. Prices charged here are less than in regular salons, because students are the ones cutting hair, giving permanents, doing coloring, and so on. They are under the watchful eyes of instructors and develop a loyal following before they finish training.
