Sam Ball Store

Sam Ball Department Stores are a small chain of department stores, carrying women's dresses, men's clothing and hats, sheets, and towels. The Hammond store's manager is Ben Ball, who lives in New Orleans.The store's phone number is 282.

In March LSU football players Billy Cannon and Johnny Robinson make an appearance at the store as a promotion for Lee Rider jeans.

According to the Hammond Vindicator in July 1960, the Sam Ball building is being remodeled for the W. F. Beall Company, which moves into the store August 15. Beall's is a department store carrying clothing for the family, shoes, and dry goods. The remodelling will add a new front of ceramic tile to the building, update the lighting , and add air conditioning. Giacone Brothers is doing the work.
